PUSHKAR LAKE: A Journey Full Of Holiness
Pushkar Lake is situated in the town of Pushkar in Ajmer district of the Rajasthan state of western India.It is considered to be the sacred lake in India.It is located 11km north-west of Ajmer in Rajasthan.it is the city with the only temple of ‘Lord Brahma’ in the country.According to Hindu mythology Brahma is said to be the creator of this Universe.
It is said that when ‘Lord Brahma’ dropped three petals of his divine lotus at three parts during killing demon “Vajranbha” creating spring in their place known as Pushkar.
It is also said that Brahma performed a "yagna" at this place, for which at the end of this ritual he got cursed by his first wife that he will be worshipped at Pushkar only.There is no idol of Lord Brahma inside the temple.

Pushkar is one of the famous pilgrimage sites in India.The lake has got 52 bathing ghats and 500 temples.People from all across India come here to take a dip in its sacred water especially around Kartik Poornima(October-November).It is believed that a dip in the sacred lake can cleanse sins and cure skin diseases.

I went to Pushkar during my Rajasthan trip with my family at Christmas.It was a half an hour journey from Ajmer.We reached Pushkar at night time. It was extremely cold outside beyond my expectation. We all were shivering.Somehow we managed to reach our room and went to sleep.The next morning started with an enchanting view of sunrise.Then we got ready to go to the sacred lake of Pushkar.We also like everyone took a dip in the holy water.

One could easily feel the religious aura as soon as they enter the ghats.After that, we visited the Brahma temple and surprisingly there was no idol inside the temple.
Pushkar is the paradise for all shopping lovers.The market offers a huge variety of authentic Rajasthani handicrafts.Its always crowded with tourists for its immense variety of products available at reasonable prices.
