Sri Aurobindo Ashram is situated in Pondicherry. It was created by Sri Aurobindo Swamy and The Mother. This place is a mandatory visit for all spiritual wanderer. This is the perfect destination to experience peace and rejuvenate your mind.

It is very close to the Manakkulvinayagar temple. This white town is located right next to the sea. The inner beauty of the ashram is indescribable because you can feel a sense of zen everywhere. This town is divided into two sections- the French quarter ( white town ) and Indian quarter ( black town ). It is located in the French quarters of Pondicherry. As we entered the ashram we felt bliss at the very first step. We walked through the well maintained small garden onto the “Samadhi” of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. Their samadhis were decorated with rose petals and beautiful flowers. Everyone is allowed to sit and meditate in front of the Samadhi but photography, making noises and talking is strictly prohibited inside the ashram. Everyone is allowed to meditate around the Mother’s Samadhi as long as they want. If you are seeking peace and want to give your mind a divine bliss must visit this place.

Sri Aurobindo was an Indian philosopher, yogi and a nationalist too. After retiring from politics he become a spiritual reformer and settled in Pondicherry.

ABOUT THE ASHRAM


It was formed in the year 1926, the ashram is a spiritual community. Initially, it was run by three to four men who had followed Sri Aurobindo to Pondicherry after his retirement from politics. Later on when more sadhaks ( spiritual aspirants ) came to join him Aurobindo. Then Sri Aurobindo handed over the full responsibility of the sadhaks and the community to his spiritual collaborator “the mother “ earlier known as “Mira Alfassa “. That is when the community was transformed into an ashram.
HOW TO REACH

·         It is 310km from Bangalore.There are two routes which you can take.
·         Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Tiruvannamalai-thindivanam-Pondicherry.

·         Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Vellore-thindivanam-Pondicherry.
